About this sword :  Yamato no kami Yoshimich was the second son of the shodai Osaka Tanba no Kami Yoshimichi. This wakizashi is by the second generation Yamato no Kami Yoshimichi. Second generation Yamato no Kami Yoshimichi is a well regarded maker and is actually ranked higher than his father in the Toko Taikan. He is known as "Himeji Yamato" Yoshimichi because he was retained by Lord Banshu, of Harima no Kuni, at Himeji Castel. The large and powerful mei is a textbook example of his signature. The sugata of this work is very powerful and in a wonderful state of preservation. The motohaba is 3.3 cm and the saki haba is 2.5cm. The kasane is 8mm. Its important to take careful note of blades that are this healthy. This blade is in good old Japanese polish and has a gold foil habaki. There are several surface scratches on the blade. These are light and mostly in the shinogi-ji. This blade has a desirable Tokubetsu Hozon paper from 1997 and an older shirasaya with horn fittings. We should also note that we currently have a katana by this same smith available. They would make a great daisho as a pair. Both are Tokubestu Hozon and have the same mei. You can view the katana here.
This is a fine example of Himeji Yoshimichi and one that we are delighted to recommend. As mentioned above, it comes with a NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper, older deluxe style shirasaya, gold foil habaki and a storage bag.
