A large moko gata iron sukashi tsuba featuring a tadpole motif. This has been attributed long ago as a Tosho work by the NBTHK. The Tokubestu Kicho paper that accompanies this was issued in 1972, some 53 years ago. This tsuba is quite thin (2mm at the mimi) and shows traits consistent with Ko Tosho work. The delineation of “Ko” in regards to pre Edo Tosho and Katchushi guards was not as prevalent over 50 years ago. The only paper rank above this in 1972 was Juyo. A charming old tsuba in great condition.
