Custom Japanese Made Tsuba Storage Boxes

These are tailor made tsuba boxes. The boxes were made in Osaka and the fabric is from a shop in Nara. The ribbon is from a Japanese family that has been making these textiles since the 1920s.

This is the type of tsuba bako that dose not have a stand in the center. The inside section of the box is designed with a cutout that whole tsuba fits in. Each one comes with a custom made chirimen pillow.

These are for maru shaped tsuba. One fits a 80-78 mm tsuba, the next fits a 77-75 mm tsuba and the last is for a 74-72 mm tsuba. The tsuba shown in the photos is not included. It is shown to demonstrate the box. Japanese made quality kiri wood tsuba boxes like these are rarely available in the western market. These are the first we have seen in more than 20 years.
