Dai Tsuba Hako

An antique boxed kiri wood case for 60 tsuba
Both the outer case and inner lid sate:"Showa Ju hachi nen kichi hi (Made in 1943 on a lucky day) Tsuba Hozon Hako (Tsuba Preservation Box) Yang uji kura (Yang Collection)". The main case consists of 10 interlocking trays that can hold 6 tsuba each. There is some wear to the other box but the inner box is in pristine condition. There are no broken sections and all of the trays and the lid still fit perfectly. The original ties are present, of witch the inner ties are worn from age. Needless to say, this is a very rare item. We have never seen one outside of Japan and this is the sort of treasure box that one only sees in top level collections.
