Choshu Tsuba by Masakata

This is a nice Choshu tsuba by Masakata. It is signed "Choshu Ju Masakata". He worked in Choshu as well as Edo and left one work that was dated 1851. The quality of this guard is rather nice and the gold nunome on the leaves is a nice touch. Especially the material and patina are nicely representative of Choshu workmanship. A nice signed work at an attractive price.
