Chikuzen Nobukuni
Koto Period Socket Yari

10 cm nagasa (metal shaft to tip= 19 cm)
2.6 cm wide and 1.5 cm thick

This is a socket yari that has been attributed to the Chikuzen Nobukuni gruop by the NBTHK. These smiths descended from the Yamashiro Nobukuni line and moved to Buzen in Muromachi times. This blade dates to cira 1450-1500. It comes with the shira saya shown and a 1973 NBTHK paper. This type of yari is rather rare as are koto yari in general. A great find for a yari collector.
