About this sword :   This a solid example of Koto Bizen workmanship from the age of Warring States. The Kiyomitsu group of Sue Bizen smiths are quite well known for their battle proven suguha and this blade is a text book example. This sword conveys a strong feeling when one views it "hands on". The large chu kissaki and overall excellent health of the blade contribute to this. Please note both blade and nakago fumbari are present. This is a katana that offers a lot to see and is the kind of old soldier that you never get tired of admiring. Especially the hataraki in the hamon and utsuri in the ji are fun to study. The blade is in good old polish with minor rubs and surface marks, it does not need restoration. The mei is hard to read due to age and corrosion. Please see the close up of the Kotoken Kagihara oshigata. It is signed "Kiyomitsu" and papered as such. Kotoken Kagihara's papers are well regarded and he ranked this blade as "Jo Saku". This has a few minor openings as shown in the photos but nothing that is not acceptable for a koto blade with a hadamono jigane. This is a healthy, long, signed Koto Bizen katana. It is accompanied by a Kotoken Kajihara oshigata, copper habaki and a shira-saya. A strong sengoku jidai Bizen Kiyomitsu katana.
