An Edo period shakudo unsigned work done in the Kiri (paulownia leaves) mon motif. This mon was the badge made famous by Hideyoshi Toyotomi and Oda Nobunaga. It was also the Imperial crest. A nice work showing refined taste.

A late Edo period shakudo work singend "Miura Yoshiharu" with the motif of persimmons with branch and leaves. Miura Yoshiharu was a student of Sonobe Yoshitsugu working in the late Edo period circa 1850.

An Edo period shakudo ji unsigned kogai. The theme is of 2 Gods of good fortune. The male is Daikokuten. The version of Daikokuten, with two rice bales, only appeared in Edo times. So, it is interesting to note that when this theme is encounterd, it can be used to set a date range for the work at hand. The goddess is Benzaiten. Some of these Gods are often seen as subject of horimono on blades as well.

A late Edo period special order kogai signed "Tounsai Yasuoki". The work is in the katakiri-bori brush painting style made famous by Somin. This kogai was professionally repatinated to save it from a former state.
