About this sword :   This is a wonderful hira-zukuri wakizashi by Tanba no kami Yoshimichi. The blade shows a text book example of this family's sudare-ba hamon. The blade is very healthy and retains most of the original mei. The nakago jiri has been shortened a little at some point in this blade's history. The machi are ubu. The koshirae for this blade is an Edo period example in excellent condition. The saya is a highly desirable same wrapped type. The tsuba is a nice Shoami example and there is kozuka as well. The fuchi kashira and menuki are well made and in good condtion. A tsunagi was made for this koshirae in 1983 when Kotoken Kajihara polished it. He was the author of "Japanese Sword : A Visual Glossary". Kajihara paperers are well regarded to this day and this Yoshimichi is accompanied by one. Overall, a wonderful Mishina school blade with a nice koshirae in full Japanese polish.
