Hamon :  Ko-nie deki suguha. The nioi-guchi is bright ant tight. Kuchigaiba and sunagashi can be seen.

Kitae :   Ko-itame that is nearly muji in style. There is profuse ji-nie throughout the ji. The nie particles are small and coarse.

Boshi :  Somewhat indistinct due to polish but a wide ko-maru with a long" return can be seen.

About this sword :  This katana is by the 8th generation Owari Nobutaka. He is a descendant of the Owari Sansaku smiths that began the school in late koto times. This blade needs a polish. Nonetheless, the quality of workmanship can be clearly seen. The bright nioi guchi and evenly distributed ji-nie is very admirable. The blade is healthy and the fact that it received a 72 point kanteisho paper while out of polish is noteworthy. The NTHK paper was issued under Kentaro Yoshikawa in 1989 at the Chicago Shinsa. Especially considering that this is papered, signed and dated example, this is a great candidate for polish. It is accompanied by an NTHK paper, antique habbaki, State side shirasaya and storage bag.
