About this sword :  This blade is one of those old soldiers that was made for the real business of war during the Sengoku jidai. It has been attributed to Mihara Masaoki by the NTHK (NPO). This shinsa team is headed by Mr Miyano. His kantei is highly respected in the sword world. The paper is a very nice addition to the package considering that Mr Miyano attributed this blade to a specific smith, rather than a school attribution. Masaoki was a Kai Mihara smith. The date given on the paper is Eiroku (1558-1569). This coresponds to a later work of the Nidai Masaoki. He is ranked at the Wazamono level for the good cutting ability of his swords. The blade has no fatal flaws. There are some kitae ware as shown in the photos. The blade comes with a restored koshirae. The tsuba is a cast brass one from early Showa times. The menuki are of shi shi dogs and there is an antique fuchi of a frolicking shi shi with a nanako ji. Horn kashira. It comes with a silver foil habaki and a nice storage bag. Here is a great opportunity to own a mounted, papered koto katana at a very reasonable price.
