About this sword :   Dewa Daijo Kunimichi is a very famous figure in the history of Nihonto and was the most outstanding smith of the Kunihiro mon. He was born in 1575, thought to have received his title of Dewa Daijo around 1619 and there is a work with a date of 1657 made when Kunimichi was 83 years old. This blade is a fully mature work of Kunimichi's. Notice that the box part of the "wara" kanji does not have a central horizontal stroke. This is characteristic of his bannen or twilight mei. Kunimichi often enjoyed making blades in the Shizu style and this blade is such an example. The masame hada combined with brilliant nie in a thick nioi guchi with abundant ji-nie and chikei all attest to this. This Kunimichi is in good old polish. This blade is accompanied by an NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper, shira saya with horn details, antique double gold and silver foil habaki and a deluxe storage bad. Kunimichi is thought by many to be an important representative smith of Shinto time. This blade presents a wonderful opportunity to study Jo Jo Saku shinto workmanship and is being offered at a very attractive price.

Price : $6900
