About this Daito :   This is a fine katana by the 3rd generation Hoki no Kami Nobutaka. He was active in the Enpo period circa 1673-1681. His civilian name was Kawamura Sannojo and he used the mei of Nobuteru in his early years. He received the honorary title of "Hoki no Kami" in 1665 and died in August of 1707 at the age of 76. The Nobutaka line is a branch of the famous "Owari San-saku" which consists of the shodai Masatsune, Ujifusa and Nobutaka smiths. The Nobutaka school continued for 10 generations, lasting all the way through the Edo period. The sandai (3rd generation) Nobutaka is a well regarded smith. He is ranked at 3.5 million yen in the Tokotaikan and Chu Jo Saku by Fujishiro.

This blade is in full polish and it is flawless. The kesho polish is nicely done with crisp geometry and clarity of hataraki. This katana is ubu with one ana and has a Tokubestsu Hozon paper. It has an old copper falling rain yujo style habaki and a shirasaya. A great opportunity to own high-papered and polished ubu, zaimei katana by a well regarded maker.
